Keep the account open if you don’t want to mess up your rating.
Remove any monthly fees you may be being charged.
Put the credit card away somewhere safe and do not use it.

There is no penalty for cancelling a credit card at any time. Only if you are behind on your balance payments can they make a report to the credit bureau saying your score is low. opening a credit card or line without your permission is fraud as they would have to forge your signature to open the account.

    A. Closing a credit card within 6 months of opening it does NOT necessarily hurt your score, ESPECIALLY if you already have older credit card accounts. Closing a newer account and leaving an older one open can actually HELP your score.

Having 3 cards is not too many.

    B. Yes, you can write a letter. No, I do not think that she will get in trouble, especially if you leave the account open, which is what they want. If you really want to hurt them and demonstrate to them that her actions are hurting them, then wait until you receive the $125 incentive and THEN close BOTH the credit card account AND the checking account, and send them a letter telling them that you closed both accounts because of what she did.

First and foremost if you dont agree with something then dont let anyone persued you to do it because you will be the one paying for it in the end. Secondly, she was very rude to insult you like that, you should have spoke to her boss because she was wrong, and if she opened a line of credit for you must have agreed to something or signed your name stating that you adhere to the terms and conditions. You shouldn’t have walked out of that bank with something that you didnt want you really should have talked to her boss. Also try working on whats already on your credit report before you apply for another card that will help your credit. If you just have to have a credit card then get a secured one that way you are borrowing against your self and you cant spend what you dont have that means no overdraft fees and it boosts your credit.
