Lex asked:
I just paid off an overdue bank payment (of 3 yrs) it was only 300.00. I have no overdue accounts, all my bills are paid on time, I do have a mortgage, and car payment but do not have any credit card balances. Will my credit score go up right away? Also is there a way to get a fast creit report for free w/out giving your credit card number?

It will not go up that much because the overdue balance will be on your credit report for 7 years.

It generally takes at least 3-6 months for this payment to show up as paid. Your credit score will go up but not dramatically. Try myfico.com
freecreditreport.com. Do not ever give out your creditcard # for any of these reports, they can debit it at any time.

paying off old bills does not increse your credit score becuase a derogatory account will stay on your report for 7 years. The only way this could have a positive effect on your credit score if to hope the company reported that you paid off the account and it is no in good standing which would help increse your score. If i were you i would call the company and ask them to report the payment to the credit bureau. Its also a good idea to ask for a verification letter that the debt is paid in full. This way they cant come back for the debt again and if you plan on making a big purchase which requires a loan you will have proof that the debt is paid.

Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service – freecreditreport.sinfree.net
