How do I make sure all 3 agencies remove items?

J C asked:

I filed a claim against 14 creditors on my credit report through Transunion and received notice a week later that all 14 had been deleted. I ordered a new report from Transunion and sure enough, GONE! How do I make sure that Equifax and Experian do the same? Do I have to submit a request to them individually or will it be removed based on the outcome of my initial request with Transunion? Whats the least expensive way to make these changes if I have to go in an report again, I already used up my free reports for this year.
The items in question was for credit obtained when I was 14-16 years of age. Mostly 15. I am not bound by this as I was a minor and unable to enter in a contract of this nature. The credit was stolen by a step-father who is no longer in the picture.

I have a question about a pay for delete letter?

Corporate Mom asked:

I want to clean up my credit report and I got the free copy this year from the 3 big credit companies. I have already disputed several things on it, and got the reply that the debts were indeed mine, which I knew they were. The only pay for delete letter samples I can find are for sending before you dispute the items on the report. Since I’ve already disputed can I still send one and where can I find a sample of what to write? Also who do I send it to the original creditor or the credit bureau?

Which Credit Bureau Should I Use To Check My Credit Report?

Beth Pardue asked:

There are three main credit bureaus in the United States; Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. Each bureau collects your personal and financial information which is then sold to lenders such as banks, credit unions, credit card companies, mortgage and auto loan lenders. Your credit report is the product of this collected information. Lending and credit companies use your credit information to determine if they will approve you or not and at what interest rate you will pay.

Many people are recognizing the importance of checking their own credit report to verify its accuracy and to make sure that they know where they stand in the credit world. Until they begin the process to obtain a copy of their credit report, some people do not realize that they actually have three credit reports instead of just one. The three main credit bureaus keep separate credit records from one another and produce their own credit reports. Instead of the credit bureaus working together and sharing information among themselves like some people may think, they are actually competitors. That is why the information provided on one credit report will more than likely be different from the information provided on the credit report from another credit bureau. Therefore, it is recommended to check your credit report from all three credit bureaus in order to see the complete picture.

There are a couple of options to checking all three of your credit reports. You can contact each of the credit bureaus individually to request a copy. Or you can go through one of the many companies that provide a 3-in-1 credit report like [http://www.credit-report-credit-score.com]. Obtaining a 3-in-1 credit report is usually more convenient and user friendly to the consumer compared to requesting individual copies.

Verifying the data on all three of your credit reports is the only way to know that the information that potential lenders and creditors are evaluating you on is correct. When considering you for a loan, some lenders will pull your credit report from only one or two of the credit bureaus while other lenders will pull your credit report from all three. It is always a good idea to check your credit reports BEFORE applying for your next big purchase. Covering your bases beforehand can often times save you a lot of time and hassle during the application process.

Husband has charge-offs on credit report. How should we handle this if he wants to join the Air Force?

savannie84 asked:

Ok, this will be the 3rd question I’ve asked about the AF thus far. I really appreciate y’all’s help here.

My husband has a credit score of 577 (checked today). We are on the Dave Ramsey plan (for those of you familiar with him) for paying off our debts, which means we’ve just been paying our smallest debt first and then working our way up to pay off the rest of them until they’re all paid off. Goal is summer 2009 to be debt free. Question is, my husband has two credit card charge-offs (one we have paid by settling), and a few very small collection accounts that we are taking care of immediately. The charge-off is for about $3000. What should we do about this? Should we continue with our plan and show the recruiter how active we are being in paying these off or will they immediately count us out for bad credit? And if I have a charge-off in my name, too, will it affect my husband’s chances, as well?

Basically, we were very responsible with credit at first. Then we bought a home and lost a job and got behind badly. Now we are making significant progress in catching up and I’m wondering how we need to show the recruiter this or if my husband will just automatically be disqualified because of credit.

Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Thanks in advance.

Why Should I Get My Totally Free Credit Report?

Gary Bunn asked:

Your credit file is a document that presents a complete picture of your financial situation, both past and present, and is the primary deciding factor that leads your creditors to accept or decline your applications. So you can clearly see how important your credit report is! It’s also really important that you make sure the information recorded on your report is up to date and accurate. It is estimated that 7 in every 10 credit reports requested contain an error or incorrect entry of some sort! Just imagine the effect this must be having on your applications.

Your credit report is used to decide not only if you should be approved for a credit application, but it will also affect the rate of interest you pay, and also whether you will be required to provide a deposit or guarantor. Checking your credit file can be a quick and easy task that could mean the difference between getting that next credit card, motor loan or even a mortgage, so the sooner you check your report the better!

There are 3 main companies that collect and record your details and these are known as ‘credit referencing agencies’. The major 3 are Experian, Equifax and Trans-Union. You can apply individually to these agencies who are required to provide you with a copy, however there may be a fee associated with it.

Alternatively you can get a free copy of your credit report from all three companies here. These companies also offer subscription services to protect and monitor your files, which also helps prevent identity theft, but don’t think you have to pay for this! Regular credit report checks and common sense with your personal details (such as shredding) will certainly help keep you one step ahead!

Once you have copies of your report take a few minutes read through your file and highlight any potential problems you see. Once you have a list you can contact the referencing agency and let them know your disputes, they are legally obliged to look in to these for you. It may also help to write to the company who has entered the inaccurate info.

The most important thing for you to do is to get a copy of your report and check the details! You could be very surprised at what you discover! Remember you can get a free copy of your Free Instant Credit Report here, it really won’t cost you a dime. Good luck!

Can I return a buy here pay here car with no effects on credit report?

Slim asked:

I bought a car last year. Since then, it’s been towed 3 times to replace a coil pack, fuel pump, and transmission problems. I got sick of it breaking down, putting so much money into it so I just bought a new car and don’t want to pay for a car that I’m no longer driving. I called the dealer, explained the situation, and asked if I could return the car. He said yes. It was towed away today. Am I free and clear? Do I owe anything? Is this considered a repo? Will this be on my credit report?
Well thanks for the input guys..I got my answer from the dealer. I called and asked him what was going to happen..The balance on the car was $1800. He said that I could either pay a lump sum of $600 or continue making the payments til I reach $800. So I will pay the $800 over four months, which is fine with me..Thats way better than $1800 and it will not be a repo or on my credit report.

Bad Credit Repair – Is Repairing Bad Credit Really That Important?

Frances Hobsons asked:

The credit score is like a report card to get the loan. Your academic marks or percentage is considered for the admission in any school or university in the similar way the credit ranking is considered by the creditor to give you loans and the interest rate on it. Almost every one of us knows that having good credit ranking is good. This make easier for us to get the loans etc. Bad credit repair can be done by changing some of the financial habits.

You should start paying your credit card bills or any other outstanding debt before or on due day itself. This helps you to get high credit score and even you don’t have to pay the high interest. The interest rate is very high on the credit card debt. The maximum of 40% of the credit limit should be used to get high credit score. This has two advantages firstly, you can easily give the debt back and secondly you get the points for your credit score. Do not over spend which can be problem in paying back.

Try to remove all the negative entries form your credit ranking. Negative entries mean the outstanding debt as soon as possible. Make habit of scanning your credit score report for the errors. You should enter the dispute with the concern credit ranking firm regarding the disputed entry/entries. The dispute should be filed in the form of written complaint. Preserve the complaint document which can be used as proof at the later stage. The credit giving firm will take maximum of a month time to investigate your claims. This is their duty to justify all the data in their credit report. If they are not in position to justify it then the disputed entry will be removed from your credit score report.

The credit repair firms are in the market that uses their expertise and contacts to improve your credit ranking. Some times negotiations with the creditor, helps in removing the negative entry. These firms are best in negotiation as they have skills, qualifications and contacts for the same. You know experts always make the difference and this difference is in very much of your interest. The bad credit repair is done by them using systematically approach.

Annual Credit Reports – The Importance of Seeing Your Credit Report at Least Once a Year!

Gressly Stevens asked:

Your credit is nearly as important to your survival as water, oxygen, and food. You need to know that your annual credit reports are so important that you must have your credit monitored or you will have to do this yourself. Either way you have to protect yourself from having a bad score and from identity theft. This is very important and you must understand this.

The first step to make sure you are on the right track with your credit is to go ahead and pull your credit now. This will give you a place to start because you need to know what your credit looks like right now. You also need to know if anything on your report is incorrect or is not yours. This happens and you need to have the opportunity to clear this matter up and move on.

The second step that goes along with the annual credit reports is monitoring your credit and you can do this yourself by pulling your report every quarter and taking the time to go through your report and compare it to the last. This is something that should be the reserved for those that know how to manage money and have the time to figure out how to read the report correctly and understand it.

The last step is to decide whether you want to do the monitoring yourself or hire a company. If you hire someone to do this you can have it done for about $30 a month. This is a great way to go if you do not have the time to do this yourself. You can have a company watch your credit and they will alert you anytime something changes on your report at all.
